OUR SERVICES

RETIREMENT LIVING & AGED CARE

With over 20 years’ experience working with developers, architects, operational managers and suppliers, we’ve had the opportunity to gain a thorough understanding of the needs and functions of a retirement village.

Whether the requirements need to cater for retirees living in independent villas / apartments, residents that require full hospital and dementia care, or any stage in between, we have a passion for creating warm, inviting spaces that allow retirees to feel welcome and comfortable.

We also recognise the importance of creating workspaces that function well for staff, while maintaining a relaxed and hospitable ambience.

We feel that retirement villages shouldn’t feel joyless or oppressive, but be welcoming and uplifting spaces for everyone, and take pride in the feedback we receive from residents, staff and their families for our retirement living projects.

WORKING TOGETHER TO CREATE A VILLAGE

How We Work

Our portfolio includes new and refurbishment projects for several of the large retirement village companies, including Metlifecare, Oceania, Bupa, Arvida and Summerset, as well as many privately owned villages.

We work collaboratively with each business to meet each location’s specific vision and brief, and create pleasant, homely environments for our elder communities.

BUILDING DESIGN + FINISHES

Our design capability spans both new and refurbished facilities, and can include some or all of the following elements:

Review of architectural, electrical, lighting and joinery plans to ensure best functional and aesthetic design and finish. This helps ensure spaces function well, as well as helping to avoid redesign at later stages.

Specifying all finishes and colours from architectural layout plans – flooring, joinery, paint, wallpaper, feature lighting – as well as issuing specifications and tracking updates to keep all stakeholders informed. This often entails designing or selecting bespoke feature carpets for entry/reception, as well as carpets appropriate for dementia care areas.

Auditing older sites and providing refurbishment recommendations.

We are often asked to present our design proposal to your stakeholders, with options where appropriate, to help secure their buy-in.

BUDGETING

Following your feedback, we make changes to the design before preparing the budget.

We prepare a detailed inventory of everything required to fulfil the project, together with actual or estimated costs.

For many projects, we source quotes as part of the budgeting phase so that we can ensure the specified items meet overall budget.

For refurbished sites, we are adept at making the best use of existing items where possible, and regularly receive feedback praising our ability to achieve upmarket finishes within budget.

Design and Selection of Furniture, Furnishings, Art and Accessories

We recognise the importance of working collaboratively towards your bespoke vision in order to achieve the specific look and feel desired.

We will ensure our design is complementary to architectural plans and finishes, and also takes into account the locality of each site.

We work with key suppliers to select furniture and fabrics, utilising our knowledge of the latest furniture styles, and will often develop new designs to specifically meet your needs.

We source art and accessories from within New Zealand and overseas, and procure one-off pieces from art shows, or directly from artists.

As well as fitting out independent living and care spaces, we can stage show villas, apartments and care suites and can provide colour boards and curtain selections for prospective residents.

PROCUREMENT & FITOUT

Once we have your approval for both the design and budget, we procure all agreed items, maintaining liaison with suppliers, tradespeople, and the project manager throughout.

We also continue to work closely alongside you, agreeing any alterations or substitutions where supply issues are encountered.

At the agreed fitout date, our team arrives on site to place all furniture and accessories, and hang artworks.

Following fitout we provide a cost-to-budget reconciliation and inventory for asset management.

RETIREMENT LIVING TESTIMONIALS

"Having worked with Heather and her team over several years, I can recommend them as authentic and caring. This is especially so when working with them on Residential Aged Care environments.

The resident is at the centre of design, fabric choice, artworks, furniture selection and layouts.

They will work to your budget to source what you need and make suggestions to enhance your residents’ living spaces."
Janette Watkin
Executive Operations Manager, OCeania Healthcare
"Leigh and the Inspiration+Co. team have taken the refurbishment of villas in our retirement village to the next level. The design process, from start to finish, is easy for us and most importantly our residents. They have taken the time to understand our likes and dislikes, are creative, thoughtful and incredibly responsive. Our residents trust their suggestions and love working with them.
We are so impressed, we had Leigh complete the interior design for our new administration office. Leigh worked closely with us to choose colours, flooring, furniture and lighting. In addition to their design expertise, they have project managed budgets, ordering and supply. They made the entire process super easy, transparent and efficient."
Stephen Lyons

"I am a new resident of the BUPA Retirement Home, Crofton Downs, Wellington. I wanted to drop a quick email to tell you how very much I am enjoying the beautifully designed interiors here in the brand new complex.

The colours, textures and pieces have been put together so gracefully and thoughtfully. I not only take much pleasure in living here I am also very proud and happy to show friends and family around. It's all quite marvellous!"
