BRING your PROJECT TO LIFE!

How We Work

Our portfolio of work has spanned a wide range of commercial and community projects through the years, including offices, cafes and restaurants, health centres, funeral homes, motels, beauty salons, community theatres and halls.

We also have extensive experience working within the retirement living and aged care industries and count ourselves fortunate to boast some big names on our CV, including Kapiti Coast District Council, Kapiti Day Hospital, PAK’nSAVE, Harcourts, Metservice, and both Kapiti College and Paraparaumu College.

ESTABLISH BRIEF + SCOPE

Establishing an agreed brief is key to ensuring our design fits within your vision and budget.

We are experienced at liaising with businesses and other stakeholders to establish what you want to achieve, as well as what is beyond the scope of your project.

Our design capability spans both new and refurbished facilities.

BUDGETING

Following your feedback, we make changes to the design before preparing the budget.

We prepare a detailed inventory of everything required to fulfil the project, together with actual or estimated costs.

For many projects, we source quotes as part of the budgeting phase so that we can ensure the specified items meet overall budget.

DESIGN PROPOSAL

Working closely with your existing consultants and contractors, we prepare a design proposal, including the finishes, colours, furniture, artworks and any accessories.

We will ensure our design is complementary to any architectural plans and finishes, and also take into account the locality of the site.

We work with key suppliers to select furniture and fabrics, utilising our knowledge of the latest furniture styles, and will often develop new designs to specifically meet our client's needs.

We source art and accessories from within New Zealand and overseas, and procure one-off pieces from art shows, or directly from artists.

We are often asked to present our design proposal to your stakeholders, with options where appropriate, to help secure their buy-in.

PROCUREMENT & FIT-OUT

Once we have your approval for both the design and budget, we procure all agreed items, maintaining liaison with suppliers, tradespeople, and project manager throughout.

We also continue to work closely alongside you, agreeing any alterations or substitutions where supply issues are encountered.

At the agreed fitout date, our team arrives on site to place all furniture and accessories, and hang artworks.

Following fitout we provide a cost-to-budget reconciliation and inventory for asset management.

SUCCESS STORIES FROM OUR COMMERCIAL PORTFOLIO

CASE STUDIES

RESTAURANT REFURBISHMENT, PARAPARAUMU BEACH

In 2021, we were fortunate to be asked by Helen Turnbull, owner and chef, to design the refurbishment of her 50-50 Restaurant at Paraparaumu Beach.

Helen had done an amazing job building the reputation of 50-50 as a quality local dining destination.  She wanted the décor and surroundings to match that quality;  in particular, to reduce noise and to provide more comfortable seating.

To understand Helen’s vision, we began by enjoying a wonderful degustation meal at 50-50 which introduced us to Helen’s creativity, authentic leadership and customer service ethic.  This inspired our design.

Working within a budget, we prioritised noise reduction, bespoke seating, decorating and lighting as the key design elements.  Feedback from clients immediately following the renovation were that the noise reduction, comfort and aesthetics had made a huge difference to their dining experience.

"Thank you Leigh and Inspiration+Co. for taking the time to understand exactly what I was trying to achieve at 50-50.

Your ability to bring all my ideas into one cohesive dining room has thoroughly elevated my guests’ experience. Through design-led thinking you helped reduce noise levels in the restaurant while lighting, new chairs and colour choices have revitalised the space.

Thank you for your hard work and passion for this project from concept though to the final reveal."

NEW MEDICAL CENTRE, LEVIN

The Horowhenua Community Practice is a bespoke medical centre completed in 2024.  It is an extensive building with reception/waiting and office areas, 13 consultation rooms, a triage area and minor procedures room, plus meeting and staff facilities.

Working closely with the client and project manager, we designed a welcoming and cheerful environment for patients and staff.  Warm bright colours were used on furniture and doors, and the patterned carpet and muted wall colours softened what could otherwise feel like a sterile environment.  Timber was used on furniture and detailing, which complemented the colours chosen.

The project manager ensured that utilitarian features, such as signage, fitted with the décor which resulted in the whole scheme looking harmonious.

Their professionalism and dedication to excellence were evident in every aspect of the project. The way they conducted their business was nothing short of amazing, ensuring that every detail was meticulously planned and executed.

The end result is a wonderful space that perfectly meets our needs and exceeds our expectations. We couldn't be happier with the outcome and highly recommend Inspiration+Co. for any design project."

WELLINGTON CITY ENTRY LOBBY REFURBISHMENT

The entry lobby of this older five-storey CBD office building was dated, dreary and dark. The lifts were being replaced and alongside this, we were tasked with creating an inviting contemporary space for existing and future tenants, whilst minimising costs.

New carpet, paint colours and decorative lighting were the key elements that brought this small space to life.

Many of the building’s tenants were vocal in their appreciation of the transformation of the space, and how they loved the new colours.
