KAPITI COAST INTERIOR DESIGN SERVICES
At Inspiration+Co. we deliver our interior design services to clients right across the entire Greater Wellington region – but it’s right here on the Kapiti Coast that we’ve always called home.
Originally based in Paraparaumu, we moved in 2023 to our new premises on Kapanui Road in Waikanae. We’ve been a Kapiti based organisation for all our 25 years in business and our team is proud to serve the region.
Our Kapiti client base stretches from Otaki in the north, to Paekakariki, as well as properties further afield including Pukerua Bay, Plimmerton and Levin.
We have been fortunate over the years to build great relationships with many clients, builders and developers who involve us in both new and renovation projects across Kapiti.
A large proportion of our business comes from clients returning to us, time and time again, as their circumstances change or new opportunities arise.
By building relationships with our clients we also often receive referrals through family and friends, which gives us a warm glow and allows us to feel like our services are part of the fabric of the community here on the coast.
In recent years we have been involved in many community projects in the region, such as the refurbishment of the Paraparaumu Memorial Hall and the Otaki Civic Theatre on behalf of the Kapiti Coast District Council, as well as new medical centres in the Horowhenua and Manawatu.
At Inspiration+Co. we work hard on keeping our own egos out of our work. CASE STUDIES
BEACH APARTMENT REFURBISHMENT, PARAPARAUMU
A long-standing client – who had hired us on two previous occasions, firstly to refurbish her existing home and then again for a new home build project – engaged us a third time with a specific remit in mind: she sought a ‘city vibe / beach side’ lifestyle feel for her newly purchased Paraparaumu apartment.
Firstly, the property needed a complete makeover. Having built a relationship with our client over several years, we had a good instinct for her tastes and style, allowing us to propose beautiful colours for all decorative aspects of the apartment, including a colourful mural which is the first point of impact upon entering through an in-house elevator.
As a real lover of colour and bold patterns, our client embraced our design, which also included a fabulously fun wallpaper for the guest toilet.
The kitchen / family / living area was also remodelled to take advantage of the dual aspect decks, as well as to provide a kitchen fit for an enthusiastic cook.
Upstairs, we were able to transform the living area into a contemporary bar that offered amazing views of Kapiti Island: perfect for afternoon / evening entertaining!
She and her team have been such invaluable guides with my latest – and completely different – home, while totally getting ‘me’ in the process."
NEW BUILD, WAIKANAE
Our clients had purchased a sun-drenched site on the Waikanae hills with amazing views of the whole Kapiti District.
Rochelle from Kapiti Architectural Design provided the fabulous ‘forever home’ design, referring the clients to us for professional design for exterior and interior finishes.
The brief was to design a practical but beautiful home that the couple could enjoy in their retirement years.
They were very professional and developed a relationship with us that enabled them to totally understand our needs and tastes.

RENOVATION, WAIKANAE BEACH
Having enjoyed their bach at Waikanae Beach for some years, our clients chose to embark on a major renovation of the property, taking advantage of the north westerly aspect for amazing views and all-day sun. Michael Nemeth from AD Architecture was the architect on this project.
Whilst their short-term future was still in Wellington, enjoying the beach house with their family at weekends and holidays, our clients planned to eventually move to the Kapiti Coast permanently, and expressed a strong preference for a contemporary but timeless aesthetic for the property interior.
Our first meeting was sitting in the dining area of the old bach discussing exterior finishes for the ‘renovation’ – which ultimately grew into a home that more closely resembled a new build!
We were super pleased with the support that Leigh from Inspiration+Co. provided to us. We were able to engage early and ensure that right from the beginning we were thinking about how everything would come together.
We were pleased with the options provided, and the responsiveness of Inspiration+Co., but also the times that she challenged us to move beyond our usual ‘go-to’ colours and styles.
Leigh helped us maximise the key features of our house with effective use of colours and avoidance of clutter that would distract from the key features of the house, the site and views.
What has resulted is a lovely, welcoming home we can be proud of, with a really joined-up feel to it."
TOWNHOUSE DEVELOPMENT - PARAPARAUMU
Our client’s vision – moving an old home from a large section to provide space for seven quality three-bedroom rental townhouses close to shops and transport – entailed some creative thinking and a pragmatic approach by Gary Phillips of Novare Architecture.
The clients required low maintenance buildings made of durable materials, whilst not sacrificing the ‘wow’ factor.
We proposed Colorsteel in Flaxpod as the key cladding material, and three bold paint colours in a gloss finish for the garage and entry sections of each townhouse, to achieve a strong contrast.
The clients are thrilled with results, receiving positive feedback from their tenants, noting how great it is to see bright colours instead of the often-used black, white or grey.
Heather understands a budget well and was able to recommend tradespeople and suppliers, which made life much easier as the usual time and stress in making these important decisions just disappeared.
